The art of filigree has been used by Etruscans as early as the 9th Century BC and is now one of the many treasures of the Mediterranean cultural heritage. Similar to metal embroidery, its ornaments are made of gold or silver threads, skilfully intertwined. For a long time the filigree ring was the Sardinian traditional engagement ring.
